PEEPUL CENTRE, LEICESTER
Multicultural community venue funded by lottery bodies. Client Project Manager co-ordinating development of brief, funding, appointments, design team management, procurement strategy and stakeholder management.
The development received the single largest lottery funded donation at the time and was thus subject to intense political and public scrutiny. Strong stakeholder management and communication was required and provided.
The Peepul Centre is a 60,000 square foot flagship community led regeneration project in Leicester. The centre incorporates a 350-seat auditorium with tilting raked seating. This unique feature, the first of its kind in the UK, enables the area underneath the seating to be fully utilised as flat floor space for weddings and other social or business events.
On 3 storeys with upper level mezzanine gymnasium the development has a huge central atrium with a floating staircase, a 100-cover restaurant, cyber café and dance studio, a community wing with children’s development centre, training and conferencing, health and well-being wing and fitness and leisure suite.
The project was funded via multiple agencies including:
