Lei Shing Hong
The world’s largest Mercedes-Benz retailer is hoping Stockport could soon become home to a regional sales and distribution hub for the luxury brand.
International retail automotive group, Lei Shing Hong (LSH), is submitting plans to Stockport Council to regenerate a derelict and problematic site on Brighton Road, off Didsbury Road, into a flagship dealership with showroom, workshops and servicing facilities. The new building will be of high architectural quality reflecting the importance of this gateway site.
Lei Shing Hong operates more than 140 Mercedes-Benz dealerships in diversified markets such as China, Australia, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Cambodia and most recently in Germany and the UK. They currently operate nine dealerships in Birmingham and Manchester and have ambitious growth plans.
They have chosen the Brighton Road site for its great motorway connections and central location. The site has been unused for many years and has attracted problems with vandalism, fly tipping and travellers. Now it could be turned into an attractive, open site surrounded by professionally-landscaped gardens.
K2 are acting for LSH by providing acquisition support and project management services. K2’s early stage activities involve working closely with LSH acquisitions team to carry out detailed feasibility discussions and the development of design options. This will be followed by development of a planning application ahead of site remediation and construction of over 5,000 m2 of showroom and associated buildings.
