Town centre landmark

GLive is a new focal point for the local community in Guildford. K2 were responsible for its successful delivery on programme and £1m under budget through effective engagement with the design team and supply chain throughout. The exciting new venue includes a 1,000 seat auditorium, a versatile studio space, two function rooms, five seminar rooms, bars, restaurants and additional community space.

Hands-on project management

K2 acted as trusted advisors from the outset of this complex project, providing a hands on construction project management service. Works were procured via two stage D&B, with Willmott Dixon selected, after which a value engineering exercise was undertaken to reduce the budget by £4m. We also managed the transition from construction to operation.

Sustainable design – BREEAM ‘Excellent’

The sustainable design of the new venue was recognised with a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating. Much of the demolition waste from the 1962 Civic Hall was recycled and reused for the new building. The venue also scored 90% of the available credits for management and water, and 96.5% for energy and transport. It is naturally ventilated with a biomass boiler system generating an energy cost saving of around 25%.
